Passenger Cars

Please tell me the exact material used in propeller shafts of automobiles(normal passenger cars)?Any reference?
Is it made of steel, if yes which steel? The universal joint is also made of the same material?
Have they started making propeller shafts of composite materials for normal passenger cars as well?
Thanks a lot.
"Drive" shafts are made from heat treated tubular steel alloy, with "yoke" inserts welded on each end. The bearings are hardened tool steel alloy...CV axle shafts are made from hardened high tensile steel alloy...
