what can i do or not do to make sure i get all/most of my 750.00 security deposit back? owner is tight/?

she said carpet was brand new, we moved in dec. 1, 2005, finished 6 mo. lease. walls are not dirty, no kids, just minor nail holes from hanging pictures and mirrors, nothing is broken or in need of any repair of anything we did, she said she left it in such condition as if she were moving in (her words) im rea;;y worrid because we really need every penny to move into a better bigger place. she never really liked us (predjudice) she just let us move in on a favor to someone else. can she say i didnt give her enouph time ahead of moving out? i am waiting for the last minute, (personal reasons)

By waiting until the last minute, you are setting your self up for her to keep your deposit. If you signed a tennant agreement when you moved in, she may have a written policy about what type of notice that she needs.

Walmart sells a nail and hole filler type stuff for cheap. Use that to cover your nail holes.

call her and request an appointment time so that she can walk through the apartment with you. If possible, have a neutral party there at this time, the extra person will ensure that everyone stays professional. Give her some excuse for that person being there, helping you get rid of some old stuff, for example.
